ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
The anti-defection law was passed in the Indian Parliament in 1985, to ensure stability of governments and inhibit detection of legislators. While passed with good intent, the law has been received with distaste. Public opinion, ramifications and effectiveness of the reform will be deliberated on in the committee.
